12g of added sugar is 1/2 kids' daily limit
"24%" of your daily added sugar is misleading: that's for adults. For kids, 12g is about 50%. That means two bowls of cereal makes up nearly 100% of their "added sugar" limit per day, and that's just for breakfast! And this is one of the "healthier" cereals on the shelf! "Bioengineered" on the label isn't the problem: that just means corn, and all corn is bioengineered and you've been eating it for years. But corn means sugar. Technically, NO amount of added sugar is good for you: the "recommendation" is that you at least try to limit the amount you take in, not that you actually try to shoot for that amount. This cereal at least has 3g of fiber, which helps mitigate the sugar ever so slightly, which is why I gave it 2 stars: compared to the rest of the cereal on the shelves - nearly all of which is also made by GM, the same company that makes this cereal - it technically is healthier. But that's like saying diet soda is better for you than soda. Yeah, I mean technically it is, but it's still really bad for you. Sadly, we don't really have much choice as consumers, so the best we can do is write reviews like this and hope that companies eventually feel the pressure to lower the amount of added sugar in all their products.Reply from cheerios.comHace 11 mesesSo sorry for any disappointment!
