Place the probe firmly into the ear canal, and press theSCAN/M button. You will hear one short beep. Keep the probe in the ear until the thermometer emits a longer beep to signal the completion of the measurement. Replace the protective cover. When a low-level fever is detected (99.5°F - 101.3° or 37.5°C - 38.5°C), the thermometer will emit a slower double beep. When a high-grade fever is detected (101.3°F/38.5°C or above), the device will emit a faster triple beep to alert you to a high fever.
