What is Methyl Acetate?
Methyl acetate has a mild odor and is a fast-evaporating solvent that can be used in a wide variety of items. This ingredient is useful as a fast-evaporating component in solvent systems and many other applications when fast solvent release and quick drying to the touch are required. You'll often find methyl acetate in acrylics, epoxies, polyamides, and polyesters. It has a mild odor and dries quickly, which makes it a broadly preferred choice for coatings and ink products. The ingredient is VOC (volatile organic compound) exempt and is readily biodegradable.
There are many uses for methyl acetate including fabric care products, furniture manufacturing, and as an aerosol and architectural coating. This unique ingredient is also found in paints and other mediums for graphic arts, printing inks, and as a general industrial coating. It may also be found in industrial cleaners, marine cleaners, and hard surface care products for things like countertops and flooring. It's commonly used in roofing materials, upholstery, furniture, and as a wood coating, too. You may also notice methyl acetate as an ingredient in certain perfumes or products that contain fragrance.
