The product package did not indicate it was an eye pencil that had to have a sharpener- I never buy those kind, so I think your packaging is not clearly enough described. I liked the liner product itself- so intense! But you can't use it long bc it does not keep a point- and apparently you cannot sharpen it properly into a point successfully! I've never had to read reviews on a CG product before ( I have used CG eye products for many years) but now I've read all these horrible reviews AFTER I bought it. I started reading reviews to see if anyone said what kind of sharpener I needed. Because the one I have did not work. Then others said it does not sharpen rightly anyway! So I won't waste additional money to buy a sharpener that does not work! If CG could make this good of product but have it be mechanical THEN you'd have a great product. But this is not!

If you notice the blade becomes dull, we recommend replacing the sharpener for the best results. We do not recommend putting the pencil in the refrigerator or freezer to make it harder as this will interfere with the performance. I gave it 2 stars only because the stay ability and pigment is great. I usually use a different brand but my husband bought what he could find and at first I was absolutely about to change my eyeliner brand/product to this one. However, like many other reviews I've read I was very disappointed in the design. I also thought I was missing something when it wouldn't twist up and went to the internet to figure out the issue. I really hope they will make a new mechanical or easy to sharpen version of this product. Costs way too much for such a short amount of usage.

I bought this a week ago and loved it. Tried to twist it up today and couldn't. I literally came online to find instructions thinking I was missing something. Instead I find everyone has the same problem and Cover Girl's answer is to buy their special sharpener. Are you kidding me?!

I bought this because it was 24 hour eyeliner and I love Covergirl products. I was very dissapointed after using for a week to find out that it does not extend and will only be able to use a few more times, total waste of money!! Will find another brand that I can get more uses out of and not pay as much for this.

Absolutely impossible to sharpen. I actually had to google to make sure that it wasn't just me. Read the reviews. Can't believe they would produce a product like this without testing it first.
