So many issues not mentioned…
My father is 92, blind and in early mid stage dementia. He also suffers from a previously undiagnosed/untreated class 3+, initial hernia. This means that his testicle dangles into the too shallow bowl, and is soaked with urine and fecal mass. Why, when designing a huge seated bedside commode would they not make the receptacle deeper? Also the legs definitely require support, if the person doesn't lower themselves slowly and with care, the legs flare and the entire commode, twists. This is definitely an accident waiting to happen. When Dad started using this, he was 202lbs. Now, he might be 170. Weeks have completely rebuilt the stability of the commode, mounting it on plywood with aluminum and 2x4 braces. Bucket Spills Everywhere!!!!
I bought this and set it up yesterday and ironically, I looked online to sew if replacement buckets are available for purchase, which I didn't see anywhere. Today, I'm at my mom's and lifted the handle to empty the bucket, and it automatically tipped and urine went spilling ALL OVER HER BEAUTIFUL RUG!!!!!!! We have had a variety of commode and have NEVER had this happen. The bucket is not balanced and I would not recommend this because of that feature. Not only is the urine everywhere, but my mother is now injured from jumping out of the way when I screamed in reaction to it spilling, and now I have to take her to the doctor. Best commode we’ve ever used.
Best commode ever . Comfortable, elongated seat, allows good positioning, easy to put together. Most CVS's were "out of stock ". I drove north of Tampa to pickup last one! Should make this product more available. ( mother of disabled daughter… very thankful to Michael Graves Design.)5 users found this review helpful.
