Would have given this 5 stars for value, performance and aesthetics. But the directions included with our humidifier did not mention anything about the gelatinous gunk that builds up inside. Our unit was losing its strong plume of moist air; it had dwindled to tiny puffs. We drained the unit, took it apart, and found disgusting blobs of ...? Not exactly sure. Mold? Mucous? Fungus? After thoroughly cleaning it we reassembled it and tried it out. Seems to be working OK now. In the past we had humidifiers that needed a good clean periodically, but those products came with advice and instructions about that. Either we missed something when we looked over instructions for our CVS unit, or the manufacturer omitted a very important piece of information. One of us developed a respiratory problem over the last month, and we're wondering now if it's related to the slime.
