My wife had a severe toothache, and we were about to travel out of town to see our son. She had taken pain medication, but alone, it didn't seem to help that much. Cvs anesthetic delivers numbing results in a matter of seconds. Application is simple using a q tip or finger for applying to the sensitive area. Results seem to last awhile, around an hour before reapplying.
