First Aid Bandages

First aid bandages keep scratches, scrapes and wounds clean to help with healing. Regardless of what size you need, you'll find a wide variety of colors and styles to choose from.

What are the Best First Aid Bandages Brands?

What Is a First Aid Only Bandage?

There are several different types of first aid bandages that are an essential part of any kit de primeros auxilios. First aid only bandages tend to be sterile to prevent germs and infection. Roller bandages are made from a single roll of lightweight gauze. They are ideal for holding nonstick pads and other dressings in place and for covering large areas. They are commonly used with first aid tape. Triangle-shaped bandages are versatile and include attached self-stick tape for holding the bandage in place.

When Should You Use a First Aid Bandage?

Most wounds benefit from moisture to help them heal quickly. Minor cuts, scratches and abrasions can be left to air out and heal on their own, but larger injuries, deep cuts and injuries with open skin need to be covered to prevent dirt and germs from entering and causing infection. When left uncovered, large wounds can actually dry out, feel tight and even be painful.

Scrapes and cuts that are still bleeding or oozing should be covered to help stop the bleeding and encourage new skin to form quickly. For injuries that bleed excessively, it's important to see a doctor. In some cases, an oral antibiotic or a topical antibiotic may be needed. Sometimes stitches may be required when the injury isn't sealing or healing correctly. In cases where the scratch is deep, it's possible to use a tratamiento de cicatrices to reduce the likelihood of a scar from appearing.

What Are the Best First Aid Bandages?

Some of the best first aid bandages cover the wound completely and keep the user in mind. Paper tape and bandages are ideal for sensitive skin, while waterproof designs are ideal for water sports and instances, such as with stitches, where you need to keep your wound dry. Blister prevention tape helps reduce friction to prevent injuries from happening, while braces and supports can be used with bandages to keep parts of the body immobile to prevent further injury.
