Using Gain Fabric Softeners as Part of Your Laundry Routine

Use Gain fabric softeners during your laundry routine to put a cozy finishing touch on your clothes and linens. Fabric softeners can help reduce wrinkles and static cling and may make clothes feel more comfortable.

Is Gain Detergent a Fabric Softener?

Laundry detergent and fabric softeners are complementary products, each with a distinct purpose.

  • Gain laundry detergents are cleaners that contain bleaching and stain-fighting agents to help break down grime. They may help lift dirt from clothing fibers so impurities can be washed away.

  • Gain fabric softeners help give clean clothes a soft, silky feel and may prevent static buildup and wrinkles. Some products feature an appealing fragrance, such as Moonlight Breeze y Sunflower Fresh, to help infuse your laundry with a clean, crisp scent.

Can You Use Gain Fabric Softener as Laundry Detergent?

Fabric softeners aren't formulated to remove odor, dirt and stains and shouldn't be used as detergent substitutes. Softening products are best used alongside detergents and other laundry supplies to help get clean clothes feeling the way you like.

To combine Gain with fabric softener, use the products at different stages of your laundry routine. Add detergent to your washing machine at the start of a cycle to clean dirty clothes and liquid fabric softener during the final rinse when clothes are washed. Dryer sheets after can help soften freshly washed clothing.

How Do You Use Gain Fabric Softener?

Most modern washing machines have designated compartments for fabric softeners, which are dispensed at the appropriate time. If your machine doesn't have a dispenser, add the product to the water during the final rinse cycle. Take care not to pour fabric softener directly onto clothing.

Follow the measuring instructions on the fabric softener bottle and use the recommended amount based on the load size. Gain fabric softener sheets can be placed directly in the dryer with your clean, damp clothing.

Fabric softeners can be used with many types of materials but can reduce the performance of some textiles. Avoid using fabric softeners with:

  • Flame-resistant materials, such as children's sleepwear

  • Absorbent fabrics, including workout clothes

  • Fluffy materials, such as velour, chenille and terry cloth

How Often Should You Use Gain Fabric Softener?

Use Gain fabric softener as desired for extra softness and scent. It may not be necessary to add fabric softener to every load of laundry. In fact, you may experience the best results by using fabric softener less frequently to avoid residue buildup, especially when washing absorbent materials such as towels.
