I knew something had changed with the Ivory soap. It doesn't lather as well and doesn't rinse off the body easily either. In the past year I've been getting allergic type reactions from it, so I've had to switch to my expensive Clinique bar of face soap. Thank god for that! We also noticed in the past year that our shower drain keeps clogging. We had to remove the drain plug, as it was getting gummed up with solid white residue. We're constantly having to put liquid Draino down the drain and follow with kettle fulls of boiled water so it pushes everything down. Like most everyone is saying, we'll be searching for a new brand of soap. After 50+ years it's unbelievable they'd mess with a good thing. Good luck P&G. You're losing customers. CHANGE THE NAME NOT ORIGINAL... NOT EVEN CLOSE..
I should have read these review, before purchasing this non-original soap!!!! I just purhcase 10 bars of this useless soap. How many corner did you cut to make this crap? How much are you saving on the cost? just to sell it to us at a high price? and to lie to us about it being original? You people stated that you have been in business for over 140 years have you learned anything? If nothing was wrong with the original, you leave it alone. The only real reason you would change it, is to make it cheaper and sell at a high cost. It's the american way to make it cheap and sell high. This is proof!!!! Now, I can understand if, it's still the same and the cost went up... But to lie and say it the original!, knowing it's not!!, just to make a sell. Well that's down right fraud, there should be a class action sute.... Nostalgic
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Smells like my childhood, i have very vivid memories of taking this soap to summer camp because that was required and using it again just brings back that nostalgia. Not the Original!
I have used this product my whole adult life and have loved it. Now it has changed and it marketed as the "original scent". The new bar is waxy, leaves a filmy finish and does NOT smell like the original. Silly, but it also does not float. The advertising is VERY misleading! Original Label but New Ingredients, New Process?
My stash of the real ORIGINAL Ivory bar soap was finally depleted and yesterday I used the new product made of different ingredients using a different process but masquerading under the original label. This morning I woke up with legs that looked like I got too much sun, but it's early February and my legs got zero sun yesterday as I wore long pants. I'm a celiac so I guess I will now have to find some weird soap costing 10x more. If P&G wanted to make a new soap, why did they have to destroy a 140-year-old product in the process?
