La Roche-Posay Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 50

The lotion sunscreen is easy to apply, it's a smooth sunscreen lotion that doesn't feel like a mask. I recommend this product.(7

    Decently works

This product is not sticky and does not enhance acne. It takes time to dissolve into the skin. You must moisturize before applying the sunscreen. It's a bit dry and does not work on dry skin. In terms of face application, you need to moisturize really well. I tried it with Double Repair Face Moisturizer, it does not work. This moisturizer peels in itself. I use Cetaphil moisturizer to let the sunscreen do its job.

An SPF with lots of skin benefits

While not as cosmetically elegant as chemical SPF, mineral SPFs with zinc oxide are best for sun protection. The fact that this SPF has antioxidant benefits is even better and creates beautiful skin in the long run. I also love that this doubles as a body lotion. I prefer to use this formula on my body but it actually worked well on my face too (which is sensitive, acne and rosacea prone). Great sunscreen!

My dermatologist uses this and I really like it

Use small amount for start until you get used to the thickness and soak in process.

    Not My Favorite

I have oily acne prone skin and decided to switch over to mineral sunscreen from chemical sunscreen. This one looked promising and I have been using it for two months now. The texture is very thick and white in color with no fragrance. Since it is a mineral sunscreen there will be a white cast no matter what and this one is no exception- the cast is horrendous on my medium skin! It's more noticeable around my hairline and eyebrows. I apply two fingers length of product (one for the face and one for the neck) by evenly dotting the cream onto my skin then patting the cream for better absorption in thin layers. This method works best for me despite being more time consuming but this doesn't "fix" my problem with the white cast or the fact that it rubs off easily. For example, if I scratch my nose or my chin, the entire layer of white sunscreen comes off. If I apply in circular motions I find uneven application and the white cast looks streaky on the face. On the positive side this cream doesn't sting or irritate the eyes. I wear contact lenses and never once has it interfered with my vision however having hooded lids throughout the day, product would settle into my eyelid fold and I have two white lines on my lids. On days where I wear glasses, this cream rubs off around the nose and sides of my face where my frame sits leaving residue on my glasses itself. I also have horizontal neck lines and this sunscreen settles into them so I constantly have to be blending my neck throughout the day too. I recommend shaking the bottle before use because sometimes it comes out very greasy and liquidy whereas other times it comes out more like a thick solid cream. The UV protection is surprisingly good despite rubbing off easily on my oily skin. Since using this sunscreen daily, I have not notice any darkened acne scars or more sunspots around my forehead and underneath my eyes. This sunscreen hasn't stain the collar of my shirts either. Due to the white cast it somehow makes my skin look more cakey(?) and heavy as if I have paint on. I do not like this sunscreen under makeup (I use concealer and cheek products) and because the cast is so bad when I spot conceal (with a shade that matches my skin) it looks weird because some spots are dark from the concealer while other areas are white from the sunscreen. I didn't experience any pilling. I have tried wearing this sunscreen by itself with just a serum and find it moisturizing enough for my oily skin but it catches onto any dry flakes like old acne scars and the white cast is more opaque. When I use a serum and light moisturizer underneath the sunscreen, it goes on more smoothly, the cast is still there but not as strong, however the whiteness is uneven/streaky. My guess is that certain areas where there's more moisture the sunscreen doesn't stick on too well and rubs off easily. Reapplication is a nightmare! Even though I blot any excess oils and product from the initial application, when I reapply my skin feels heavy and the again, the white cast! I'm still finding a mineral sunscreen that offers full UV protection, is cosmetically elegant, with little to no white cast and unfortunately this one was not that. I won't be repurchasing this sunscreen.
