    Non-Greasy, No More Breakouts!

My absolute favorite favorite face SPF! Have been using faithfully for 3 years and it has never once made my oily/combination skin break out! It has a very light scent and rubs in clear! Not greasy whatsoever!

White residue on skin doesn’t look good

This is my least favorite of their products. A friend recommended this and wish I had never ordered it. Their other facial sunscreens are outstanding and have used for years!

Thank you so much for being a loyal La Roche-Posay customer for years—we truly appreciate your support! We are so sorry to hear that the Anthelios Clear Skin Oil Free Sunscreen SPF 60 let you down and left a white residue on your skin. Because this specific formula is designed to absorb pore-clogging oil, even in heat and humidity, it contains ingredients like perlite and silica which can sometimes leave a slight white cast depending on application or skin tone. We completely understand your frustration, especially when you have had such outstanding experiences with our other facial sunscreens. Since you are a fan of our other formulas, we would highly recommend our Anthelios Ultra Light Fluid Facial Sunscreen SPF 60 or our Anthelios Melt-in Milk Sunscreen SPF 60. Both are fast-absorbing and formulated to blend seamlessly into the skin without leaving any white residue behind. Thank you again for your honest feedback and for your continued trust in our other products!

    Way too hard to apply!

This stuff pills like an eraser or an old sweater if you even look at it wrong! You have to be very quick and sparing for it to even blend in, and the silicone doesn’t like being applied over other LRP moisturizers.

Hello there! We are very sorry to hear that you experienced pilling with our Anthelios Clear Skin Sunscreen. This particular oil-free formula contains starch and silica to help absorb excess sebum and provide a clean, matte finish, which can sometimes interact with other skincare layers if they have not fully absorbed into the skin. To help ensure a seamless application, we recommend waiting a few minutes after applying your moisturizer so it can fully set before putting on your sunscreen. When applying the sunscreen, try gently patting or pressing it onto the skin in a single direction rather than rubbing it in circular motions, as excess friction can cause the protective ingredients to ball up. Utilizing a lighter hand and letting each layer dry completely will help maintain both the hydration of your moisturizer and the high protection of your sunscreen.

For those who try with dry skin

Difficult to blend in, it often rolls and pills during application. I actually used this a few times, and using other sunscreens that I liked more made me realize what was unfavorable about it for me. I will say in defense of this sunscreen, my skin type is dry, but I believe this is recommended for those with oily skin. My experience with this sunscreen is that it pills, regardless of whether you did skincare before or not. It especially pills if you try to pat it in. I found the only way to get it on is to harshly rub it into my face—which honestly hurts, and I am not sure how great that is for your skin long-term—but it does blend in better that way. It is very hard to put on the recommended amount of sunscreen because of this. When you do get it on, it clings to any dry spots. I feel that even on non-dry parts, the sunscreen will coagulate and bunch up, becoming patchy and streaky. If you try to rub or pat those spots in, I find my skin starts to irritate, and sometimes, the sunscreen just doesn't blend in at all. Another day, I was able to get a good amount on my face, and it ended up burning all over. When I went to remove it and do my skincare for the night, my skin started burning again, even with a routine that was working okay before :( . I hope this works better for others, especially those whose skin type is oily. It just wasn’t as great as other sunscreens for me.

    Best sunscreen for my face

Have used for past 3 years . 71 yrs old and still get breakouts with some rosacea. Use my Rx creams first then sunscreen. It is slightly white when goes on but quickly diminishes. I then use makeup on top. No problem with breakouts or burn on face.

    No shine!

Best sunscreen for those of us that do not want more shine on their nose! Like many, I tried so many sunscreens, and Anthelios Clear Skin Oil Free Sunscreen SPF 60 is the one I come back to for a daily face sunscreen that won't leave me like I am ready for the beach. I suspect that many of the negative reviews stem from applying on top of other face products that don't react well with it. Make sure you wait until your other products are well absorbed, and if piling up mattifying or acne care products, contact LRP to see which of their sunscreen you should be using and how. La Roche Posay is THE top French pharmaceutical sunscreen company, and their products are backed up by tons of real research. You just need to find the sunscreen that fits your skin - that's what their customer service is there for!
