To prevent this from happening in the future, we highly recommend advancing the liner only a tiny fraction of an inch above the casing—just enough to make contact with your lips—and applying with very light, gentle strokes. If you are sharpening a traditional wooden or pencil-style liner, using a sharp, high-quality cosmetic sharpener can also help prevent the formula from splitting.
