The tip broke off when removing the cap the first time. I didn't think this was a problem because of the built in sharpener, however the sharpener doesn't even work and I have an eyeliner pencil that I wasn't able to even use once.

Hard to sharpen
Cap was stuck & when I finally removed it the tip broke off. It's so hard to sharpen even with a brand new sharpener.

This pencil is advertised as self-sharpening; however, the sharpener only worked one time. After unsuccessfully trying to sharpen it with a standalone sharpener, I had to throw it away. It was a complete waster of my money!

We understand how frustrating this can be and would like to suggest some steps that may be useful in the future. Although the Lasting Drama Eyeliner may seem to have a plastic coating, it can still be sharpened by using our Expert Tools Dual Sharpener and gently turning it clockwise. Not for sensitive eyes
This eye pencil is not for sensitive eyes. This really irritated my eyes. Will not purchase again.

Reviewed 3 months agoGreat pencil, just needed more pkg instructions
I really like how the pencil applies and wears all day! The only recommendation I would make to Maybelline is to include the clear instructions on the packaging that sharpening is HOW you get additional pencil for use. This isn't a common pencil type. Clear packaging instructions are needed to convey that even what appears to be the pencil's plastic can be put into your cosmetic pencil sharpener. This would have save me a good bit of time trying to figure out how to advance the pencil, studying how it was put together, removing the "cap" at the top, trying first to twist, then to press down from the top. Once I found this product information in an internet search that required some scrolling, then I understood. If the packaging instructions are made more clear, I bet many of the negative comments will disappear. This is an otherwise really good product!

Tattoo Studio gel pencil
was only able to use a couple of time, the didn't sharpen as expected. so very disappointed

I was only able to get two uses out of this. When you turn the bottom to supposedly sharpen it, nothing happens. Complete garbage.

You only get a couple days use out of this product! You can turn the bottom, but no more product comes out. I thought I was doing something wrong until I read these posts. I liked the way it went on and how long it lasts, but i only got maybe 7 applications out of it. Not to mention the sharpening issues that were mentioned. Regardless of what sharpener you use, if you can't twist it to have more product to sharpen, it is useless!
