You are actually on the exact right track by looking into your moisturizer, as heavily emollient or oil-based moisturizers can sometimes prevent the primer from properly gripping the skin and controlling excess sebum. We highly recommend using a lightweight, oil-free, gel-based moisturizer and allowing it to absorb completely into your skin for about three to five minutes before applying a thin layer of the primer. Additionally, letting the primer set for a full minute before sweeping on your foundation will ensure the mattifying barrier is fully locked in.
