[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We use these regularly to clean our dishes, however the last package we purchased, when opened the sponges are damp and there is a strong chemical smell coming from the sponge. Soap in Sponge Smells After A While
I love Scotch sponges but noticed lately they have soap in them. After using them for a while, they begin to smell and the smell bothers me so I have to toss them in the trash before they even get fully used.Reply from ScotchbriteHace 3 mesesHello, we're sorry to hear about your poor experience with the product. Poor Quality, Microplastics: Avoid Buying
Aside from needlessly changing the shape, the quality has suddenly deteriorated unacceptably. All the versions start falling apart within 10 days. I assume the idea is to 'drive' the consumer to buying more often. What it does though is drive me to checking out other alternatives as I consider the harm to the environment of the microplastics going down the sink. Cellulose seems to be the answer as sea sponges should be left to do what they do peacefully. And sea sponges don't biodegrade all that quickly. Sponge thickness changes

Not buying

Once the best, now like the rest.
What did you do to our favorite sponges? We always buy a large pack at the club store. This new design is a complete waste now. Quality is gone as they shred with minimal use
Ive been using these forever (im 76) and have always found them to be good quality and lasting. In the last year, and several diff purchases, the quality has gotten SO bad i will be looking for another product. The sponges are drek and start shredding and falling apart after just a few uses of normal dish washing.
