Gray Eyeshadow & Palettes

Gray eye shadow works well with all skin tones, making it a good choice for you if you want to pump up your shadow look without selecting a bright color. As a kind of neutral shade, gray is less stark than white but lightens up the eyes for a brighter appearance. 

Gray eye shadow comes in different formulas, like matte, satin and shimmer, so you can select how you want it to look on the eyes. Use a gray matte eye shadow color across the lid for a neutral base, use a satin cream eye shadow for a hydrated-looking shine or use a shimmer or glitter gray eye shadow for a highlight on the inner eyes or brow bone.  

Gray eye shadow may look muted if applied directly to the skin, but a primer helps it stand out. Make your gray eye shadow pop and appear its true color by using a white or light-colored primer to give the eye shadow a base it can stick to. 

In lieu of primer, add two layers of the eye shadow to build up its color or use a concealer over the eyes to create a tacky base good for powder eye shadows and eye shadows with glitter.  

Since gray comes in several shades and tints, anyone can use gray eye shadow to add color to their eye look. People with cool-toned skin may want to select cool gray shadows, while those with warm skin tones may want to find warm, or French, gray eye shadow palettes to get grays that look complementary.
