What Is Peanut Butter?
The simple paste made from plain or roasted peanuts has long been hailed as one of the greatest food staples. Your kids know it as the sandwich with which they first became acquainted, and you may recall it as that great stuff that sticks to the roof of your mouth. Peanut butter has inspired many other nut butters such as almond and cashew, and is used in sweet and savory dishes worldwide. The classic peanut version of the butter comes in three basic forms:
• Smooth: whipped until creamy, smooth peanut butter is the classic
• Crunchy: small bits of peanut are left for a chunkier paste
• Natural: no added preservatives or emulsifiers
