Sticky Notes
What Are Sticky Notes?
Sticky notes are small pieces of paper that you can stick onto other things, especially other papers. First patented by 3M under the Post-it brand name, sticky notes use a low-tack pressure-sensitive adhesive in a strip on the back of them. This means they can easily be attached, removed or reposted without sticky residue being left.
The Post-it brand originally came in small yellow squares but sticky notes can now be found in a wide variety of shapes, colors and sizes.
Are Sticky Notes Recyclable?
Yes. 3M is the Post-it Brand company and they have done recycling trials with sticky notes at recycled paper mills. They found that the adhesive on the back of the sticky notes does not interfere with other paper recycling because that adhesive is removed in the process.
How To Use Sticky Notes
Sticky notes have more uses than just making a quick reminder or writing down a phone message. There are many things you can do with these handy little pieces of paper. Here are some ideas:
Mark cables: Cut off the sticky portion of the note and use it to mark specific appliance cords plugged into a surge protector.
Catch dust while drilling: stick a folded note on the wall just under the place where you're drilling to help catch the dust.
Color-code your family: Assign everyone in the family a color and when you have to write them a note, they know they have one if they see their color.
Make a flexible dinner plan: Use a different color for day and if you have to move around the days, it's easier than trying to rewrite everything.
Remind kids to do chores: Kids like colors and might have more fun with a colorful reminder.
Tear a makeshift label: If you just use the sticky part, your label is less likely to flap all around and will stay on longer.
How Many Sticky Notes Are Usually In A Pad?
In an original pad of sticky notes, there are 100 sheets in each pad.
