Rit brand is an all-purpose dye that can be used on most washable fabrics containing natural fibers like cotton, wool, and silk, as well as synthetics like nylon and rayon. Rit dye can also be used on some materials such as plastics, wood, rope, and even some nylon-based plastics. Because Rit offers over 1000 color-blending options, there is no end to your creativity and the projects you can inspire.
How To Use Rit Dye
Although there are seemingly endless blending possibilities with Rit dye, many options arrive pre-mixed and offer a great variety of colors so that you can take the guesswork out of color-matching and creating. Hot water and 30 minutes to spare are all you need to create vibrant new clothing and artistic projects and give faded items a new lease on life, all of which can be achieved in a few easy steps:
Mix up a batch up of the dye in a bucket that can hold a few gallons of water and that you don't mind getting stained by the dye
Measure out your Rit dye to the appropriate amount of steaming hot water
Adding salt or vinegar to your solution can help achieve even dyeing results
Submerge your garment or material for 10-30 minutes
Remove your freshly dyed item with tongs and rinse thoroughly with warm water, gradually making the temperature of the rinse colder
If dyeing fabric, toss into a warm water wash and include an old towel to absorb any leftover dye
Finish your material in the dryer before rocking your new look
