From ringworm and jock itch to athlete's foot, these itchy conditions can not only be irritating but also painful in some cases. You can help treat these fungal infections with a topical application called antifungal powder. This potent powder helps to treat your skin on contact, and it's easy to apply. At CVS, you'll find a wide range of antifungal powders to help you combat these itchy symptoms.

Why Do You Need Antifungal Powder?

If you play sports or spend time in a locker room, you may be more prone to fungal-related skin problems like athlete's foot. This extremely itchy and sometimes painful condition is caused by a fungus that lives on your skin. The same applies to jock itch and ringworm. Antifungal powder helps to combat this by using a range of ingredients specially designed to kill the fungus that's living on your skin. It's always good to have some of this special antifungal powder on hand in your gym bag or vehicle so you can be prepared if fungus strikes.

Antifungal Powder Application

When applying antifungal powder, be sure to use it on dry skin only, and clean your skin thoroughly before you apply it. Follow the instructions on the manufacturer label, but a good rule of thumb is to apply the powder to the affected area twice a day. Make sure that you apply enough powder to cover the entire affected area and then wash your hands immediately after application to avoid accidentally rubbing your eyes or other sensitive areas. Leave the skin that is affected open to the air, and don't wrap it with a bandage or cover it whenever possible. Use the powder at the same time each day until your condition has cleared.

Antifungal Treatment

Aside from the antifungal powder, there are other things you can do to help soothe this itchy problem. Wash the clothes you have worn every day, and never re-use socks or underwear until they have been washed and dried thoroughly. If your fungal infection is not going away after using the powder, it's always recommended that you speak to your doctor. They may be able to provide you with stronger prescription treatments. After working out or showering, make sure your skin is completely dried before putting on socks and try to avoid walking in wet areas of a bathroom or locker room as much as possible. Prevention is key when it comes to fungal infections, but antifungal powder can certainly help to make the symptoms more bearable until they fully disappear.
