You've just managed to capture the greatest snapshot ever, so now the effort must go into reproducing it from your printer at home. Photo paper functions to reproduce what you photographed, with the highest quality possible. Photo paper allows for such a re-creation, and can be done with different styles of ink. First determine if you are using inkjet or a laser-style of printing, and what finish of photo paper you'd like your snapshot printed on. There are 4 kinds of finishes: • Glossy: ranging from normal to high gloss, this paper captures the smallest of details and offers a professional sheen • Matte: commonly used for black and white photographs to emphasize texture, and can often be the most affordable of photo papers available • Satin: also known as semi-gloss, this finish sits between matte and glossy • Pearl and Lustre: a textured finish gives this paper a professional feel and a satin finish If you still can't decide, pick up a few different kinds of photo paper at CVS to find out which photo finish best suits your style.

Printing on photo paper allows you to keep your photographs on permanent display, and can be done in a few approachable steps.  • Prepare your photos at the right size to ensure they will translate nicely from your digital screen to print • Load the photo paper into the input tray of your printer, noting the photo paper size • Open the photo that you want to print, and then click 'print' • Under the 'printer' section, click your printer name from the drop-down list • Click the 'properties' dialog box • Select the paper size you loaded in the tray from the 'paper size' menu • Click 'print' and await your precious memories to be printed out on photo paper

As 1 of the 4 types of finishes for photo paper, matte offers a fine-art finish for your photographs.

Unused photo paper that does not have a textured finish can be recycled. Once the photo paper has been used to print photos however, it cannot be accepted by your recycling.
