How To Use A Screwdriver

Most people have several screwdrivers in their homes. It is something that is used on a daily basis by some people. So, how is a screwdriver used? These are the steps you could take to use a screwdriver:

1. Determine what type of screwdriver you need (more on that below). You want to make sure you have the right size screwdriver, too.

2. Position the screwdriver firmly on the screw, You don't want to put it at an angle unless you want your screw to be entered at an angle. 

3. Apply force to the screw. 

4. Turn the screwdriver clockwise to screw it in or counter-clockwise to unscrew it while applying pressure on the screwdriver.

What Is A Torx screwdriver?

Torx is a trademarked name for a specific type of screw head. It has a 6-point pattern shaped like a star. These are often called star screws. These screws are commonly used in motor vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, computers, and other electronics. They have more security with the star shape and they have a higher torque transmission so they can be fastened tighter. Torx screwdrivers match perfectly with the screws heads. Because of this, the screw is less likely to get stripped and the screwdriver is less likely to be damaged.

Types Of Screwdrivers

There are many different kinds of screwdrivers. How do you know which one to use for what you need? The following is a quick guide to different screwdrivers:

1. Flat-head screwdriver: Most people are familiar with this type of screwdriver. The head is flat across and the screw is just one slot. These screwdrivers are common in households and are used for simple jobs such as hanging things on the wall.

2. Phillips: This is becoming more common than the flat head because the screwdriver won't slide off the screw. These are used almost everywhere.

3. Torx screwdrivers: See above section.

4. Hex or Allen wrench: These screwdrivers fit a screw that has no head. The hex screwdriver has a handle while the Allen wrench is L-shaped and does not have a handle. These often come packaged with furniture that you put together yourself.

5. Robertson: This is a square head screwdriver and are not very common. They are used more often in the automotive and furniture industries.

There are other specialty screwdrivers along with power screwdrivers. These will be the ones that will be used the most.
