Warm Mist Humidifiers

If your HVAC system removes moisture from the air inside your house, warm-mist humidifiers help create a more comfortable environment. They increase humidity, which can alleviate the symptoms of colds, sinusitis and dryness especially when used with humidifier tablets. Warm-mist humidifiers come in a variety of capacities to suit different room sizes.

What are the Best Warm Mist Humidifiers Brands?

Is a Warm Mist Humidifier Good for Sinuses?

A warm-air humidifier may be good for your sinuses, particularly if the air in your home is dry. The humidifier sends a fine mist of water vapor into the air, restoring some of the moisture. As you breathe, this moisture enters your sinuses and helps rehydrate dry mucous. Over time, this can reduce congestion and ease the burning sensation that comes with dry sinuses.

To get the greatest benefit from humidificadores and warm-steam vaporizers, keep the machine clean. Most models are designed for use with distilled water to prevent mineral buildup. Be sure to change the humidifier filter regularly as well. If you have asthma or allergies, consult with your doctor before you choose a machine.

Is a Warm Mist Humidifier Better Than a Cool Mist Humidifier?

A warm-mist humidifier may work better than a cool-mist humidifier in certain situations. Both types add moisture to the air; if humidity is your primary goal, either one will do. If you suffer from asthma, allergies or sensitivities to airborne particles, however, you may want to consider warm-mist humidifiers. That's because as the water is heated, it tends to kill mold and bacteria. When the mist leaves the machine, it's less likely to send these substances into the air.

If you're choosing a humidifier for a child's room, a cool-mist model is typically the better option. This is because the hot water and hot mist can create a safety hazard for young children.

How Does a Warm Mist Humidifier Work?

A warm-mist humidifier works by heating the agua destilada in the tank and transforming it into steam. The steam enters the room, increasing the humidity level. If you're close enough, the warm mist can have a soothing effect when you breathe it in. Some hot-water humidifiers feature special containers for essential oils, so you can add a scent to the steam.
