I have two CVS thermometers, the most recent I bought a couple days ago for more than $18, flexible tip and fast results. I have a second one from a few years ago, no flex tip, and just did three readings with each. It seemed like the results were random, between 98.9 and 102.6. No good thermometer
The sound did not work once it reached the temperature. There were only three on the rack and they probably are old. Not worth the price. Ended up going to dollar tree and purchased a $1.25 and works great.
