Best Nicotine patch I've tried
CVS brand nicotine patches are the best I've used. (Better than Nicoderm!). They adhesive is strong enough to keep the patch in place all day, and the transdermal delivery system is the only one I've tried that doesn't itch all day leave my skin irritated and broken. And finally, the round design is genius: no corners to lift and get stuck to the inside of my clothes (no doubt contributing to their all-day staying power)! A word to the wise, when using any transdermal system: wash gently with just soap, water & hand after removal. best product for me
I decided to try this product after always being sick with bronchitis that left a smokers cough. I found it to be irritating on my skin for a few min after putting it on so I just slapped the skin to calm the itching, after all it is a chemical on the skin. Of course there will be slight irritation. 24 hours after first use my coughing went away. Needless to say I am the poster child for this product. No other patch works for me except this particular product. Even though I have no desire for a cigarette I am still using the third phase. Never have I thought I would be a successful quitter. A lot has changed!
I know some of these reviews are really old but I can tell you from experience that the patches have improved greatly. I have never had any issue with the patches not sticking. Here's a little secret, for those that can do it... put it on your butt. Seriously. It never moves and if anything is a better place than on the arm where sweat can be a bigger issue. I have early morning cravings, but that's just from old habits I think. They are gone in minutes with this patch. I'm a 40 year smoker and really want this time to be the time that works. I am using these to quit a 1+ pack-a-day habit, it is my first time trying patches. I chose these because they are the generic Habitrol and I read that they tend to be less likely to cause reactions than the widely available NicoDerm. I have very sensitive skin and a lot of allergies so if someone was going to have a reaction to a patch, it would be me but so far, so good. I would usually begin to have a severe emotional reaction if I went more than an hour or two between cigarettes and was expecting a nicotine patch to maybe just curb that a little bit... I have now had this patch on for about 6 hours and have not experienced any cravings, any irritability, any emotional volatility, so I am very impressed. It exceeded my expectations in that way. The only thing, and I was expecting this from the reviews, is that they don't stick very well. I even wiped the area with rubbing alcohol first as apparently this helps them adhere a little better. Even at initial application, one side of the patch was popping up off my skin. I have fixed this with some first aid bandaging tape I had on hand, it is no big deal... I would rather deal with this than the increased possibility of a skin reaction that comes with NicoDerm, which is the only brand-name nicotine patches we have available around here.
