I left my MAC matte lipstick at home last week. Didn't want to spend a fortune since my lipstick addiction at home has me well-supplied! I happened to be in Ulta and purchased Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in Touch of Spice! WHAT A SHOCKER! Best lipstick EVER!!!! I don't normally care for Maybelline because they're a little too shiny and greasy for me and bleed badly. But OH! The MATTE!!! To die for!!! I have worn it every day for a week and am in love! I have not worn my MAC lipsticks at all since purchasing the Maybelline Creamy Matte! Will DEFINITELY be going back for MORE COLORS!!!! Pretty Great!
I rarely wear lipstick because I have full lips with not much shape to them. Plus, I felt like normal lipstick looks odd on me because my lips are usually dry and applying lipstick makes them look terrible, no matter how much I moisturize them. They're also naturally very dark and pigmented so most shades just don't show up nicely on my lips (I'm sad I can't do nude!). So with the matte trend, I figured I'd give it a chance. And I am so pleased! The matte masks the "weirdness" of my lips, since matte is obviously more on the dry side. I picked Touch of Spice and it's a gorgeous color. I have very fair skin and I've found darker shades compliment my skintone more. It glides on smoothly and feels very lightweight. My only issue is the lasting power. You accidentally touch your lips and you'll see lipstick on your finger. Drink some coffee, lipstick stains the cup (naturally). Eating and drinking causes the color to fade way too quickly. I had a 50 minute class, drank a small amount of coffee in my car beforehand - which faded the color ever so slightly - but by 5pm the color was completely gone from my lips. I hadn't even done anything after that initial drink, not even lick my lips. Not sure where the color went. Wouldn't have been a problem if I didn't forget the lipstick at home; no big deal doing a quick reapplication for boldness. So, I would love to see this lipstick eventually become more resistant. Though, I'm obviously still a lipstick newbie so I'm not sure what is normal and what is not. Perhaps I'm thinking of lip stains for more resilience. Either way, will definitely be repurchasing in other colors! This is the first lipstick that doesn't make me feel self conscious about my lips when wearing one. I am a very fair skinned brunette with blue eyes. I use Siren In Scarlet and Ruby. They both absolutely pop! Ruby has a little more matte feel to it but they are both really good. Out of my entire lipstick collection, Maybelline is the most numerous <3 LOVE all the shades, especially matte! I bought Touch of Spice today and I'm in love! I kinda want to wear it around the house and never take it off. It goes on really smooth and it doesn't make my lips feel dry like most matte lipsticks tend to do.
