I couldn't get it to work with batteries but that's probably just not getting them in correctly but I plugged it in and have been using every night since I got it. One of the nicest things about it is that there are more sound choices than most.0 users found this review helpful.

The volume buttons broke after two uses. The sounds it makes sound awfully artificial. By far the worst white noise machine I have ever used- in comparison to ones in the same price range. Great therapy

Gimmick
The Sharper Image has never been all that sharp, and this toy confirms it. First, the sound quality is lousy. Second, the samples used for the sounds are either badly synthesized, or simply of bad quality. Additionally, the samples are very short, about 5 seconds. This means that you notice the samples looping every 5 seconds. If anything will prevent you from falling asleep, it a sound that you notice, which is exactly the opposite of what this device should do.
