The foil shaver initially appeared on the barbering scene in the 1980s, when the prominent brand Remington became the first to market this quality shaving gear. The objective of using a foil razor was to get incredibly near to your face without using a razor blade, and are now cordless. Foil electric shavers have straight heads with oscillating blades, sometimes known as cutters, that cut hair behind a 'foil.' The foil is the thin covering of metal that covers the cutters and is pierced to generate a certain mesh pattern. The perforations in the foil catch the hair, cutting it close to the skin and providing a close shave. It protects your skin from being irritated by razor blades since the foil head prevents the blade from coming into close contact with your skin. Electric foil shavers are especially great for a close shave and as a beard trimmer because you can control how tapered your facial hair comes out.

There are a few basic steps involved in using a foil shaver.

Step 1: Prepare

Step 2: Shave

Vertical or horizontal movements should be in straight lines. To get the best results with your shaver, go against the direction of hair growth. You must shave with slow and short strokes.

Step 3: Post-shave care

After shaving, rinse your face with some cold water to tighten your pores and hair follicles. Apply a post-shave balm or moisturizer to rehydrate the skin and keep it looking young. You can prevent irritated skin by avoiding alcohol-based aftershaves.

Step 4: Clean up

Cleaning your shaver after each use keeps it clean, free of bacteria, and prolongs the life of your foil heads. If your shaver is washable, let it dry completely before resealing it in a zip pouch or other tight container. This keeps the shaver from getting musty and lets the built-in ventilation remove any residual water from the casing.
