My mom was given a prescription for 1,000 mg calcium w/50 mcg of vit D3 tablets by her rheumatologist. She had a hard time with the pills, saying that they were too big. Even after splitting them for her, she should not take them. We then got a prescription for the liquid, but after a few days she refused to take that (she claimed it tasted like chalk). The doctor then wrote in for these chewable gummies, and we finally had a winner! She actually enjoys them so much that now I am hiding the bottle after filling her weekly pill tray. I found that she was sneaking extra ones because she liked fruity taste so much she wanted more. Unfortunately, they were not covered by her insurance like the tablets were. Once I realized I could purchase them right off the shelf - I have been doing that and really appreciating the fact that CVS very often has them as a "buy one/get one 50% off". The purchase/price of this transaction might seem insignificant to such a large corporation as CVS and doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things- but to an elderly person on a limited income, I can tell you it DOES matter, especially when it is something they are required to take, as per their MD, have been taking it for nearly 5 years, and will need continue taking every day.
