In order to remove the batteries from their very tight plastic cover, I had to make several cuts with a utility knife. My Boy Scout training told me to "know what you're going to cut when you miss what you intended to cut," so I was very careful and patient in cutting the packaging open. But, a less cautious person could easily self-inflict a serious knife wound trying to get the batteries out.
