For years I have only used Dobie scrubbers to clean my dishes. However, the last few boxes have contained inferior scrubbers. The scrubbers have worn out with multiple holes in the netting within a week of use. In the past the scrubbers could see a month of use and not get holes. The new scrubbers are disappointing. Also, could the boxes be solid boxes like before? Only product to use.
I saw the Dobie in a review on today's American Test Kitchen (4-25-2020). I really like the non=scratch feature of the pad. Even when I get a sticky pot or dish, the pad gets the job done and I can easily wash out the residue. When needed, the pad comes clean in the washing machine. Finally. when the pad nears the end of its cycle, I can use it in the shower area without fear of scratching. They missed the mark in their rating. Great all-purpose cleaning pads
I have been using Scotch-Brite Dobie pads for 20 years. They are safe to use on my nonstick skillets and sauce pans. I also use them to scrub the shower and tub. I've had no trouble with mine falling apart, and I typically switch them out once a month. I do not care for the colored pads--yellow is all I want. Not as good as they used to be.
I have used these pads since I first started washing dishes. It is my go to pad. The last two boxes I have purchased fall apart on the first wash. What has happened to the dobie pad
I have used these all my life. In the last year, it seems like the quality has gone down. They rip so easily now. Faithful to my dobie pad since I was a kid.WAS.
My first memory of washing dishes was with a dobie pad, and since then, my kids started helping with dishes using dobie pads as well (ok,not very often,but STILL). Lately I was about to purchase my usual multi pack and noticed the price went up again. This is when i asked myself, do I really want to continue using this plastic pad to throw away and leave on this earth far after I'm gone? More trash to leave behind. Sorry Dobie, we've had good times together and made great memories, but our relationship has come to an end. We're just not right for each other anymore. Does a great job at scrubbing, but not durable
I have to echo many of the other users; I've been using these pads for over 20 years, and in the past year or two, something has gone wrong with the outer plastic on these pads. I used to have to get rid of these because they became discolored on the inner sponge after scrubbing gross pans/stove top and such, but never because the plastic scrubbing surface was ripped. Now I am simply washing non-stick pans (I have to use the green scrub pads for sheet pans now), and plastic parts I don't want in the dishwasher, and I get rips within 2 weeks. Love but have new reservations
I have been a lifelong user of Dobie's too, and bought them in bulk so I was never without. I too am experiencing what other users are saying. The pads which used to be effective much longer now have a shorter lifespan. They get kind of 'soft' and it's possible to put a hole in one, where I never could before. We are talking in the span of a couple weeks, where it used to take months. I don't want to waste a lot of money on sponges that don't last. I have a lot of trust in the non-scratch product so i'm reluctant to look for replacements after over 40 years of using them, but I find them consistently ready for trash so much more quickly than ever before, that I'm starting to think something is wrong. Something has changed and it's not durable enough anymore. I will add that I have never put one in the washer or the dishwasher, I do not own a microwave, and I use a gentle dishsoap, diluted 80% so I cannot attribute the problem to any of those things.0 users found this review helpful.Originally posted on Scotchbrite
