Baked Powder
Baked powder has come a long way, and now the product is praised for its ability to create flawless skin that's always photo-ready.
What Is Baked Powder?
Baked powder is translucent powder layered on top of your foundation and concealer. This powder leaves behind a smooth, creaseless finish after it stays in place, or "bakes," for 5 to 10 minutes. This gives time for baked powder to blend seamlessly into skin and give you that filtered, Instagram-worthy finish.
How to Apply Baked Powder Makeup
Want to improve your baking technique? Perfect the process following these easy steps:
Apply eye cream and foundation: Give your baked powder makeup a smooth base while minimizing the appearance of blemishes and fine lines by applying a hydrating cream to your under-eye area and then applying foundation.
Sweep on concealer: After foundation is dry, go in with a thick layer of liquid concealer. Apply it under the eyes using a fluffy brush, then blend using a damp beauty sponge.
Swipe on a second layer: Done right, this layer gives your makeup even longer lasting power. Apply a sheer second layer of concealer over the first to lock it in and help your makeup stay put. Blend and smooth it, ensuring there are zero creases before you move on to the next step.
Bring on the powder: Use a fluffy brush to dust baked powder over your dual-layered concealer. It should cover the area thoroughly and set makeup to prepare it for baking.
Bake: For this step, you'll require setting spray and a beauty sponge, preferably the wedge-shaped variety. Wet the sponge, dip into the baked powder foundation and apply it generously (very generously; stamp it on rather than sweeping) over the concealed area. You should look like you've just done a baking flour facial at this point. Leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes. During this time, powder absorbs excess oil and sets the makeup beneath it.
Complete the look: Use a fluffy powder brush to sweep away the excess, and now you're prepared for filter-free selfies.
